Tencel™ is a fiber that comes directly from the heart of wood, a pure cellulose fiber, 100% biodegradable. The production of the fiber is extremely ecological, thanks to a patented closed-circuit processing system, which starts from nature to return to it in an absolutely eco-compatible form. With this yarn it is possible to create extremely breathable and comfortable socks, underwear and clothing.
Ecological Production: The detailed life cycle analysis of TENCEL™ shows that it is more eco-friendly than cotton and synthetic fibers. TENCEL™ is derived from wood, but exclusively from specific dedicated forest plantations that practice eco-sustainability and conservation policies. The land used for the production of TENCEL™ is not suitable for agriculture, which means that unlike cotton, the production of TENCEL™ does not compete with food production, and the water consumption used in the production process of TENCEL™ is 10-20 times lower than that of cotton. The trees most often used are Eucalyptus, Birch, Oak... with FSC and PEFC certifications.
Certified Closed Loop: The production of TENCEL™ is revolutionary because the production process is based on a solvent spinning process that represents the greatest success in cellulose fiber technology. The patented closed loop process makes TENCEL™ the fiber of the future, since the solvent used is almost 100% recycled within the production cycle. This special process has received the "European Environment Award" from the European Union.
