Description

Handcrafted wallet , compact model that takes up little space, with internal compartments for banknotes and cards and external pocket for coins . Each wallet is a unique piece , assembled in India with a Fairtrade project for the recovery of leather scraps, even the back and the inside are assembled with leathers of different colors.

Soruka , a line of super cool bags and accessories , made with scraps of recovered leather , was born to transform scraps into useful items for people and pleasant to wear, giving them a new value and helping, at the same time, to reduce the environmental impact of waste leather. The Soruka collection is designed in a timeless style, made to survive seasonal trends.
Each piece is UNIQUE and UNREPEATABLE and is handmade by artisans from Calcutta and Delhi, coordinated by Original Arts, a small Spanish company that has always worked in the distribution of artisanal, ethical and fair trade products.

Every year, the Indian leather industry generates a huge amount of waste: offcuts, failed or rejected batches, and unsold stock. Some of this waste is burned in traditional ovens, generating a thick blanket of smoke that contributes to air pollution, endangering the health of those who live nearby. Another part of the waste is thrown into more or less legal landfills, where it will continue to pollute the subsoil for decades, before decomposing. Soruka aims to combat this phenomenon.

All the artisans who work for Soruka are trained adults over the age of 18, who receive above fair trade wages. Their goal is to be a zero waste company and therefore they try to use every scrap of material. With great effort and joy the artisans select the right cut and colors to transform the waste into a unique piece of art.
