khadi stands for controlled natural cosmetics, produced according to the principles of Ayurvedic tradition and in compliance with modern quality standards.
In the early 2000s, one of the two founders of khadi Naturkosmetik visited India for the first time. During this trip, he discovered an extraordinary country and its people, and fell in love with an Indian girl. However, the trip was disturbed by his dry scalp, which tended to flake and cause burning. His girlfriend offered him an Indian hair oil and a shampoo with neem made according to Ayurvedic formulations. Our protagonist decided to try the products and within a few days the dandruff, itching and burning disappeared. Happy to have solved his problem and simply enthusiastic about having seen the effectiveness of Indian natural plants and herbs first-hand, he developed a project: to make these effective natural cosmetics products accessible to people in Germany too. Together with his girlfriend, he began to develop a project: in collaboration with Ayurvedic doctors, the two developed formulations for natural cosmetics that were skin-friendly, effective and tolerable, to be imported into Europe.
In 2007, the khadi online shop was founded in Germany. The motto is: fair, ecological and effective. Effective and innovative natural cosmetics combined with the power of nature and traditional Ayurvedic remedies. The first products to be marketed were hair oils and shampoos, and then came the herbal hair dyes, which are also produced in India according to special formulations developed by khadi.
