Soil and Health Biocosmetics Certification

The Biocosmetics certification was codified by Suolo e Salute, a certifying body founded in 1969 with the desire to propose an alternative agriculture to the conventional one that at the time made extensive use of fertilizers, weed killers and chemical fertilizers. The goal was to promote an agriculture that preserved the fertility of the soil and was able to produce healthy foods. And in fact Suolo e Salute with its activity has played an important role in the development of organic agriculture in Italy and Europe.
The Biocosmetics certification was born in 2009 and its standards are comparable to those of the most important European certifications in terms of natural and organic cosmetics. This provides for the distinction of products into two different categories:

1. Biocosmetics: for cosmetics with a prevalence of natural ingredients and from organic farming. At least 15% (and up depending on the type of subcategory) of the ingredients must be natural and a maximum of 15% of natural origin.
-Biocosmetics 70 - at least 70% of the natural ingredients must come from controlled organic farming or certified spontaneous harvesting.
-Biocosmetics 95 - at least 95% of the natural ingredients must come from controlled organic farming or certified spontaneous harvesting.
-Biocosmesi Veritas - 100% of the natural ingredients must come from controlled organic farming or certified spontaneous harvesting.
2. Green Biocosmetics: for cosmetics with a prevalence of natural plant ingredients and from organic farming. At least 15% (and up depending on the type of subcategory) of the ingredients must be natural plant and a maximum of 15% of natural plant origin.
-Biocosmesi Verde 70 - at least 70% of the natural plant ingredients must come from controlled organic farming or certified spontaneous harvesting.
Biocosmesi Verde 95 - at least 95% of the natural plant ingredients must come from controlled organic farming or certified spontaneous harvesting.
-Biocosmesi Verde Veritas - 100% of the natural plant ingredients must come from controlled organic farming or certified spontaneous harvesting.
3. Vegan Attitude: Suolo e Salute also certifies cosmetics, implementing its own Private Technical Regulations “Vegan Attitude”.
-Product certification: requires that the composition and inputs used in the production of the product are checked;
- Supply chain certification: requires that the entire supply chain of companies involved in primary production, processing, packaging and distribution of the product is certified.
