History: Argan is one of the oldest trees on earth. It seems to have appeared about 60 million years ago. Its main characteristic is that of being present only in a small area of southern Morocco from Essaouira to Agadir and beyond. It is an endemic species that grows spontaneously between the Atlas and Anti-Atlas mountain ranges, which constitutes a true Mediterranean forest that you can see when passing through the area, an area declared a "Biosphere Reserve" by UNESCO. Argan is a thorny and evergreen tree that lives up to 200 years, reaching a height of 8 - 10 meters. The Argan tree produces small green drupes, similar to olives, which turn orange when ripe. Inside the kernel contains two small seeds from which the oil is extracted, considered for millennia as a precious friend of the skin, marketed since the times of the Phoenicians and traditionally used by the Berber populations of the area.
