  • Marseille soap is ideal for the whole family. It is suitable for all skin types.
  • It can also be used as an all-purpose household cleaner. It effectively cleans, degreases and removes stains from all surfaces and linen, even the most delicate.

Tips for use : Store your Marseille soap in a shaded, dry place. It is truly a living substance with a skin and shape that can evolve over time and based on its exposure to air, moisture, and light. It will however maintain all its qualities and effectiveness. Our grandmothers let it dry for months in their closets so that it becomes extra-dry and lasts longer with use.

For laundry : For tough stains, lather up the soap, then rub the stain before using the washing machine. On delicate fabrics (lingerie, silk, lace, children's clothes...), lather the soap with a damp cloth, then rub the cloth lightly on the surface, before leaving it to soak. Rinse with fresh water.

Housecleaning:

  • Walls, ceilings : Nothing like Marseille soap for washing and degreasing walls and ceilings. Dilute a handful of soap flakes in a bucket of warm water. Wash and rinse with clean water.
  • Iron: Regularly clean the base of the iron that has become dirty or yellowed by rubbing a piece of dry soap when the sole is slightly warm. Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth or newspaper ball to make the surface shine.
  • Makeup brushes, sponges : Regular washing will eliminate dust and makeup residues that have accumulated over time. Brush the brushes gently without squeezing them excessively so as not to break the bristles. Renew the wash until the water is clean. Dry them with a dry cloth, then turn them over so that the brushes return to their original shape.
  • Mattress : To keep a mattress fresh and clean, simply pass a cloth moistened with Marseille soap over the surfaces to be cleaned. Then iron a glove soaked in clean water to rinse and leave to dry all day.
  • Strollers, childcare equipment : Hypoallergenic , Marseille soap is ideal for the maintenance of childcare equipment such as strollers. Wash the removable covers in the washing machine with Marseille soap suds. For non-removable covers, wash with a sponge moistened with soap. For smelly and stubborn stains, rub with soap and a little baking soda, leave for a few hours to loosen the dirt and then rinse. Allow to air dry.
  • Shoes : Scrub your shoes with a soft brush soaked in warm water and Marseille soap and let it air dry without rinsing.

Suggestions

  • To combat the fogging and dirt of your mirrors, glasses... pass a small piece of Marseille soap on the surfaces and clean with a clean cloth. Renew this tip every month.
  • Unlock a zipper: To loosen the zipper, use a piece of Marseille soap and rub the notches in the fastener.
  • Erase the trace of a hem: To remove the traces of a hem, rub Marseille soap on the surface, place a piece of tissue paper and iron with a hot iron.
  • Stubborn Stains: In general, scrub dry stains, shirt collar and cuffs with damp soap before machine or hand washing. For stubborn stains, proceed in the same way but leave to act for a few hours before washing

Manufacturer info:

Savonnerie Fer à Cheval was founded in 1856. The saponification process of the traditional MARSEILLE SOAP takes place in ancestral cauldrons: almost 10 days are needed to prepare the soap, cooked in the cauldron according to the Marseille process. This ancestral know-how passed down by master soapmakers through the generations has reached the present day.

Because it contains no chemical preservatives or colorants, the soap may be subject to color changes and lose volume over time and based on exposure to light and humidity.

Fer à Cheval is one of the founders of the UPSM (Union des Professionnels du Savon de Marseille), which fights for the certification of authentic Marseille soap.

This logo guarantees a soap made:

  • exclusively from vegetable oils, without chemical additives, without preservatives, without perfume.
  • in cauldrons according to the ancestral process, in 5 phases.
  • produced in Marseille.
