King Louie is a Dutch sustainable fashion brand, designing original, vintage-inspired womenswear.
All fabrics are certified. They have an active policy to ban hazardous chemicals from the supply chain, in compliance with European REACH and POP laws, and with Bureau VERITAS certifications and in many cases also OEKO-TEX.
When designing a new collection, the term "timeless" is always a priority for King Louie. They rarely look at trends and consider it important that their clothes not only have a perfect silhouette and fit, but also that the quality ensures they will last over time. "Old" King Louie items are perfect for clothing exchanges or for selling on second-hand platforms and online marketplaces (so you can amortize the cost of purchase).
King Louie focuses on sustainability by creating items that last a long time thanks to the study of the right fit and the quality of the fabrics. They use mostly certified fabrics and the brand also signed the Amsterdam Green Deal Circular Textile in 2021, a fashion alliance to produce completely circular clothes.
In the production chain the company uses long-term partnerships, since 2015 they are affiliated with the Fair Wear Foundation. This is an independent non-profit organization that works to improve working conditions in the clothing industry. It fights against child labor, for a living wage (a wage that guarantees an adequate standard of living, it is higher than the legal minimum wage), and for a safe and healthy working environment.
Even in the transportation of goods, King Louie tries to limit the environmental impact as much as possible. For example, they have a "no air transport policy". This means that 99% of the time the garments are transported by ship, train or truck.
