AppleSkin™ is the name of a bio-based leather alternative. It is a new innovative material obtained from waste from the fruit juice industry. Produced in Italy with apples grown in Bolzano, the material is made up of approximately 24% apples (27% recycled polyester, 22% cotton, 27% polyurethane, 24% apples). It is vegan and without animal parts. Industrial pressing of apples leaves a pulpy pulp (made of cellulose fibres). AppleSkin material is produced using this waste product that would otherwise be thrown away.
