Shea butter

Shea butter is extracted from the seeds of the so-called butter plant (in scientific terms vitellaria paradoxa) widespread in central Africa. The seeds are dried and crushed, a pulp is obtained which is then worked by hand together with water to be able to separate the buttery part and obtain the famous butter. Shea butter has a very versatile use that goes from food to medicinal to cosmetic.

What makes this butter so precious is its high fraction of unsaponifiables, that is, the part that when reacted with a base does not become soap and which contains high percentages of vitamins A, B, E and F. This fraction contributes to the formation of collagen and elastin which are needed to keep the skin elastic.

Shea butter has moisturizing, nourishing, soothing, elasticizing, antioxidant and anti-wrinkle properties and its uses are therefore numerous. It can be used in case of irritation (even nappy rash in children), erythema, dry and chapped skin, as protection from the sun, wind and cold for the face and lips, against chafing and stretch marks, as a soothing aftershave for men, as a natural anti-aging product, as a treatment for dry cuticles and brittle nails, as an aftersun and in all cases where there is a need to soften the skin such as in the presence of calluses or delicate parts such as elbows, knees and heels, it also protects and nourishes the hair if used as a pre-shampoo pack.

For the face : to effectively moisturize the face, apply the softened shea butter to the skin and leave on for about 15 minutes then remove with a damp cloth.

For hair : To repair hair, apply shea butter to damp hair along the entire length or just to the damaged ends before shampooing and leave on for 10 minutes to an hour depending on the need, done regularly it will prevent dryness and breakage of the hair. On dry hair it can be used to define the style in short and curly hair.
