Info on the Manufacturer: ALBERO is a new brand from the German company LEELA COTTON. The ALBERO product range includes youthful and fashionable underwear and socks for men and women , made of certified organic cotton , manufactured in Turkey (Istanbul and Izmir). Both companies are GOTS certified . Cotton cultivation and production are conducted according to globally recognized GOTS guidelines, which guarantee the sustainable production of textiles, from organic cotton cultivation to environmentally and socially responsible production, right down to transparent labelling. Since all production processes take place in Türkiye, unnecessary and environmentally harmful transportation is avoided. All production processes, from cotton cultivation to the final finished product, are monitored and certified by the independent international control organization CUC (Control Union Certifications) which guarantees the sustainability of the production chain.

When growing cotton in Türkiye, no pesticides or artificial fertilizers are used. Every 2-3 years there is a crop rotation, fertilized only with natural fertilizers. Only organic methods are used to control weeds and parasites. No defoliants are used, but the cotton is harvested by hand. This preserves the ecological balance in the growing areas: the soil, air and water are not contaminated with harmful substances and the health of cotton workers is not harmed. During the processing of cotton, no chemical additives are used: such as formaldehyde, antistatic agents, moth repellents, flame retardants or similar. The fabrics are printed or dyed with eco-friendly, low-emission synthetic dyes (unfortunately, vegetable dyes are not an alternative due to their poor adhesion to fabrics). When coloring, no optical brighteners, heavy metals or bleach are used. The prints are made water based. White items are bleached by oxygen. Some items are completely undyed. Accessories such as buttons are made of natural materials (wood, mother of pearl or coconut), metal zippers are nickel-free. Only cotton threads are used for sewing, which are however mercerized due to the increased tear resistance.

The inspection organization CONTROL UNION CERTIFICATION regularly checks both cotton cultivation and production processes, the final product and the social conditions in the production facility in Izmir and Istanbul, where European social norms apply: No to child labor (age minimum number of employees: 16 years), Survival income, stable employment, payment for maternity and sickness, compliance with health and safety regulations, no forced overtime.
