Description

Natural sea sponge from the Mediterranean Sea for menstrual cycle , safe and of excellent quality. Sea sponges are a natural buffer , they are a very ancient internal protection, which does not create irritation or dryness .

If you prefer internal tampons for your period, but your body does not accept the menstrual cup, the sea sponge can be a good sustainable compromise, because it is softer, cuttable and adaptable to your shape .

The sea sponge is reusable for 3 to 6 months (or even longer if you follow the recommendations). In addition to being economical, it is also environmentally friendly .

Being a natural product and therefore may vary slightly in shape and size. The beauty and advantage of sea sponge pads is that you can cut it slightly to create a custom shape , so you won't notice you're wearing it.

The marine sponge pads are chosen based on the type of flow (see table):

Small (S) 4-5 cm approximately - Light
Medium (M) 5-6 cm approximately - Moderate
Large (L) 6-7 cm approximately - Abundant

Size S is ideal for teenagers due to its small shape and for those with a petite body and a very light flow . Size M is recommended for those with a medium flow and L for a heavy flow .

Use: The sponge must BE WASHED carefully to remove any residual particles. To neutralize the PH before first use we recommend soaking the sponge in water and vinegar. Then during use it is necessary to rinse the sponge, wring it out and reinsert it into the vagina with two clean fingers. The sponge can be pushed up towards the cervix with the middle finger. Its shape will adapt to the vagina. If you feel that the sponge is too large, you can cut it to size, but you should only do so after trying the sponge and realizing how small it will become once moistened and wrung out. The sponge can be easily inserted and removed with two clean fingers (like tweezers). To make insertion pleasant you can add a drop of water-based lubricant to the upper part to be inserted. You will feel a little pressure at first, but it shouldn't bother you.

Tip for cutting the sponge: You can only cut the sponge if you feel you need it. Never cut it in half or even without first washing and wringing it to see its actual size. You can give it shape by cutting 1/8 of its external perimeter and with each cut test how you feel it.

Tip for removing it : If you contract your pelvic floor muscles as if you were to urinate, the sponge is pressed outwards a little and extraction will be easier.

Once the sponge is completely wet, rinse it under cold running water, so the blood doesn't clot. Then wash the sponge with warm water to remove the blood.

The sponge will need to be removed and washed according to the intensity of the menstrual flow. During the first two days (days of more intense flow), it may be necessary to wash the sponge every 2-3 hours. When your menstrual flow decreases, you can wear the towel for a maximum of 4-6 hours. The frequency of change/washing is similar to a regular swab. Before each reinsertion the sponge can be immersed in hot water - some women prefer to soak it in warm water before reinserting it because the sponge will be pleasantly warm.

IMPORTANT: In case of vaginal infections, please refrain from using the sponge and use a new sponge after successfully treating the infection.

The sea sponge is very absorbent and can also be used during sexual intercourse. After sexual intercourse the sponge should always be washed.

THE SPONGE SHOULD ONLY BE USED WITH NORMAL / ABUNDANT FLOW AND NOT FOR TYPES OF LEAKS.

The natural sea sponge is a sustainable product. It is the best quality of natural sponge from the Mediterranean coast, harvested in sustainable and certified farming areas, cutting only the upper part of the sponge and leaving the root, in order to allow regrowth. Next, the sponges are refined with a gentle process of maceration and bleaching.

  • How can I care for a natural sponge?.

After use, the sponge should be rinsed with warm water and hung on a cord or wire to dry. A natural sponge should NOT be boiled because it is made exclusively of natural fibers. If the sponge is boiled it shrinks and hardens making it less comfortable and also limits its useful life. You can only wash the sponge with chemical-free soaps so that no residues remain on it that could alter the PH of your vagina.

  • How can I clean the sponge?.

Leave the sponge to soak in a 1:2 solution of vinegar and water for a couple of hours occasionally, for example, overnight. Alternatively, a solution of 1/4 of a cup of H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) and 1/4 of a cup of water can be used, which will also serve to whiten the sponge if it has been darkened from use. 2 or 3 drops of tea tree oil in 1 cup of warm water for 10/15 minutes will do the same job. Tea tree oil is very effective against bacteria and will inhibit the growth of up to 60 strains of bacteria and will eliminate any odors. After cleaning the sponge should be left to air dry, so DO NOT leave it in a damp bathroom, where it can become infested with bacteria. It is best to keep the sponge in a small cotton bag and a clean sock.
