Leather Working Group certification

The Leather Working Group (LWG) is a non-profit organization composed of entities operating in the leather processing chain (tanneries, suppliers, producers, traders). Over time it has developed a series of audit protocols to evaluate environmental performance and corporate management in terms of safety, ethics and quality of those who operate in this industry.
It is currently the reference standard for the leather industry in terms of compliance with best practices in environmental and social management in the sector.
The goal of the LWG is to improve the leather manufacturing industry by promoting these practices and providing guidelines for companies to continually grow.

The certification concerns many aspects including:
- traceability
- social responsibility
- chemical management
- health, safety and workplace maintenance
- the use of water and energy
- management of solid waste and effluents
- air and noise emissions
- compliance with restrictive substances
