Kapok fiber (vegetable wool) is a breathable material, covered with a natural layer of wax that allows humidity to evaporate quickly, and is ideal for allergy sufferers as it ensures a correct microclimate during the night and keeps dust mites away. Kapok fiber is obtained from the fruit produced by the tree of the same name. In fact, the pod contains the seeds covered by this woolly and yellowish fiber 2 to 4 cm long. Kapok fiber is particularly suitable for padding because the fiber contains approximately 80% air inside which gives it qualities of lightness and comfort, so much so that with its density of 0.35 g/cm³ it is considered lightest natural ra in the world. But kapok is also hypoallergenic , non-toxic and resistant to degradation . Last but not least, kapok is a completely organic and sustainable fiber because it grows spontaneously in nature and therefore does not need fertilizers, pesticides or dedicated cultivation.
